Parents who have children bouncing off the walls during these stressful times, can do a number of activities alongside their kids that facilitate active, engaged learning.  For  preschool-age kids and younger children, reading interactively with children is very beneficial for language and literacy. Parents can encourage their children to talk about pictures, predict what will happen next in a story, and what characters feel.

The 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program is a nationwide challenge that encourages parents and caregivers to regularly read aloud to their children. By reading just one book a night, families can reach the 1,000-book goal in three years and provide their children with essential early literacy skills. Most importantly, sharing books with children promotes a lifelong love of books and reading.

Parents can keep a tally of the number of books read, until we meet again and are able to celebrate your efforts together at the library!  It doesn't matter if your child wants to read the same books over and over!😁  Big sister or brother can read to them as well!
In addition to what is available online with your library card, you can access digital books and audiobooks for children on our Children's page links including Disney digital books and Sesame street E-books, and a fun alternative ...Tumble Books!
