New!  VOX books make their debut in the Children's Room this month!

VOX Books are printed books that have an audio reader attached to the front cover of the book. They look and feel like regular books, only they have audio inside. The VOX reader narrates to your child enabling your child to read and listen to the book simultaneously. Each book is pre-loaded with full narration, you can listen to the book with or without earphones, they have a long lasting rechargeable battery and no set up is required! No CDs to get lost, scratched or misplaced.  Just push a button and listen!

VOX Books are also an excellent resource for English Language Learners since they enable non-English speakers to hear fluent English spoken as they’re learning to read in a new language.

BOOK REVIEWS!

The Inquisitor's Tale by Adam Gidwitz

A hodgepodge of different narrators in 1242 France introduce readers to three unusual children and one remarkable dog. As their individual stories unfold and their paths collide, tension reaches a fever pitch as an agent of the Inquisition nips at their heels. Gidwitz's epic medieval adventure packs in boisterous action, richly depicted history, and lovable underdog characters, all illuminated by Hatem Aly's stunning artwork. The Middle Ages have never been as exciting or as funny!
* A Newbery Honor book *
For Grades 4-9

Paul and Antoinette
 Acceptance and respecting individual differences are among the many themes in this sweet story. Two unforgettable sibling pigs, an extrovert and an introvert, spend a typical day together. Paul and Antoinette are two thoroughly independent pigs that go against gender specific stereotypes, while expressing their charming personalities.  They may have differences, but their love and affection for one another is obvious.   While the text explores important issues, the illustrations keep it cheerful and heartwarming!  A perfect read aloud for children ages 3-7.
