Clifford the Big Red Dog was first published 50 years ago! Scholastic has planned a year of celebrations to honor Clifford and his author, Norman Bridwell.
On September 24th Scholastic officially kicked off the 5oth Anniversary celebration with a BIG party at their headquarters in New York. In honor of the celebration, the Mayor of the City of New York, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, proclaimed the day as "Clifford the Big Red Dog Day".
Clifford’s official birthday is on Valentine's Day, February 14th, which is perfect for a BIG dog with a BIG heart . Check out the video below to watch some of the party activities and to watch author Norman Bridwell answer children's questions about Clifford.
